# Update Knowledge Base Item

> Update a knowledge base item.

Usage: Pass the `vector_id` into your agent's `tools` to enable the agent to use the knowledge base item.

### Headers

**authorization** `string` *required*

Your API key for authentication.

### Path Parameters

**vector\_id** `string` *required*

The `vector_id` of the knowledge base item to update.

### Body

**name** `string` *required*

The name of the knowledge base item. Make this a clear name that describes the contents of the store.

**description** `string` *required*

A description of the knowledge base item. This can be a longer description of the contents of the knowledge base item, or what terms to use to search for vectors in the knowledge base item.

This is visible to the AI, so making it descriptive can help the AI understand when to use it or not.

**text** `string` *required*

The full text document to be stored and vectorized.

### Response

**vector\_id** `string`

The unique identifier for the knowledge base item.

Will start with "KB-".
