# Connect Claude Code to the Bland MCP server

> Connect Claude Code to your Bland account with one command, or install the Norm plugin for Bland Agents skills and /norm:* commands.

The Bland MCP server is a hosted, streamable-HTTP server. Every client needs the same two values:

* **URL:** `https://api.bland.ai/v1/mcp`
* **Header:** `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_BLAND_API_KEY`

Get your key from the [dashboard](https://app.bland.ai/dashboard/settings). Claude Code can also [sign in with Bland](#sign-in-instead-of-using-a-key) instead of using a key. Setting up a different tool? See all [MCP clients](https://docs.bland.ai/integrations/mcp/clients.md).

## Setup

For Bland Agents work, install the [Norm plugin](https://docs.bland.ai/integrations/mcp/norm.md) (`norm@bland`). For the server alone, first set your API key in the shell where you run Claude Code. Replace `org_...` with your key:

```bash theme={null}
export BLAND_API_KEY="org_..."
```

Then add the server:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http bland https://api.bland.ai/v1/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $BLAND_API_KEY"
```

Verify the connection:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp list
```

![claude mcp list showing the bland server connected](https://mintcdn.com/blandai/XGYqsqVOH8ojGWdZ/images/mcp/claude-mcp-list.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=XGYqsqVOH8ojGWdZ\&q=85\&s=58e1d8fc217797a171cec90c1b7fecb4)

Inside a session, run `/mcp` to see the server's tools, or just ask:

```text theme={null}
> list my agents and tell me which ones have no version pinned to production
> pull the transcript of my last call and explain where the agent went off script
> create an agent that qualifies inbound leads and books a demo
```

By default `claude mcp add` configures the server for the current project only. Add `--scope user` to make it available in every project.

### Sign in instead of using a key

Add the server without the header:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http bland https://api.bland.ai/v1/mcp
```

Then sign in:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp login bland
```

Claude Code opens Bland in your browser. Sign in, choose an organization, and approve what Claude Code can do. To make a read-only connection, uncheck **Create and change your agents**. Inside a session, `/mcp` also starts sign-in for a server that needs it. See [Sign in with Bland](https://docs.bland.ai/integrations/mcp/oauth.md) for what the connection can do.
